MAKING THE MUDROOM MERRY

 

 

I needed something festive to decorate my mudroom.  I wanted to keep it natural, and low cost.  Hey, my mudroom's a real mudroom, muddy, and full of shoes, coats, wood, and mud. 

This ain't your Pinterest mudroom baby.

I started with a $5 wreath from Home Depot.

I had a long wooden box that I had bought for $4 awhile ago.  The box has 3 separations.

While I was buying my Christmas tree at our local fire station, I asked if I could have some of the ends they cut from the bottom of the trees.  I placed these tree stumps in the box.   I had a small string of lights that I placed in the box.  Next I went into the yard and cut some greens.  I inserted the greens around the stumps.  Then I added a few pinecones. 

 

This display cost me nothing!

 



 

I removed the red bow that came on the wreath, and added a brown poinsettia and rustic ornament.

 

 

 

I cut some extra greens to use above the coat rack.  I added the stars (I already had).

 



 

 

 

Total cost for this room - $5.  With all the rustic charm I was looking for!
