It's 8:30am. The house is quiet.
My husband is sleeping after working 4 hours of overtime last night.
Megan has left for a
Thanksgiving morning kick-boxing class.
The boys will be over later. Company is coming.
The turkey is in the oven.
The pies are ready.
The table is set.
Yesterday was a happy day of preparation. I joyfully went about my day, cooking from sun up to sun down and beyond. I hummed along with the Christmas music on the radio. I enjoyed my family popping in and out all day. I basked in the warmth of the fire. A hot cup of coffee.
And then I saw this.
And it just slayed me.
Sometimes I forget there are others much less fortunate. I needed this reminder today.
Happy Thanksgiving to all. And as we enjoy the abundance we share in this country, let's pray for (and then act on) how we can help others.
Here's one way:
We can't do everything, but we can do something.
That picture at the end really rips my heart. What a much needed reminder that people like you and I only have 1st world problems!
