OUR LIVING ROOM
This is the view into our living room through the entry area from the dining room.
I made most of the pillows from paint drop clothes and burlap. I also attempted to make the ottoman cover. First I used drop clothes, then I covered that with burlap. Please don't look close. I edged it with jute. I still need to staple the bottom under the ottoman.
The end tables were our bedside tables. They didn't fit into our new bedroom, so we used them here instead.
I found this ladder at an antique store. It is larger than it appears here.
The view from the office
This is our tacky fake fireplace. This spot is actually all ready for a woodstove. We just need the woodstove. There is a chimney hole behind the picture.
I painted the clock (it was green) and the candlesticks (they were blue) a moonlight white.
These flowers are from my yard.
I found this fan at the same antique store that the ladder came from. It worked in the store. I plugged it in at home and it worked for 3 minutes. Now it's a knick-knack.

Two of my very favorite books. I love Marjorie Holmes.

I love your transformation! I have dark couches also. I love how the pillows lightened them up. I will have to try that. I found you at the primp link party.
ReplyDeleteThank you Laurel. I love all blogs that have a white/natural wood color scheme. The Old Painted Cottage, Our Vintage Home Love, etc. My home had no white at all. I am trying to figure out a way to slowly (and cheaply) incorporate whites and creams into my home. The pillows are soooo easy to make, and drop clothes are pretty cheap. Another solution was to add some creamy white paint to anything I could get my hands on. Good Luck Laurel!

ReplyDeleteHi Tammy,
DeleteA fellow "dark leather sofa owner"! I just discovered blogs last Christmas and fell in love with all the white - and my home had NO white at all. So I'm figuring out ways to incorporate whites and creams and lighten things up. Heading over to your blog to see what you've done with yours.
