I hit my first yard sale of the year, and I struck gold.
I have been wanting to create a coffee bar for a while now.
I have been inspired on Pinterest by the many beauti
ful ideas.
I knew what I wanted, I just had to find it -
at Goodwill, or even better a yard sale.
I found exactly what I was looking for.
I found this beat up kitchen cart for $10.
I brought it home and sanded it down.
I used a hand sander using 3 grades of sandpaper.
Then I stained the whole thing using Minwax,
Country Pine.
I didn't take photos of the whole process because
it was too messy and my hands had stain on them.
I already had this old crate (on the left),
and I sanded it down and stained it too.
Then Brian mounted it to the wall.
I filled the coffee bar with things I already had around the house.
I took this lantern from the family room.
These Pottery Barn dishes and chargers were a gift from my husband and children for Christmas this year.
The brown Transferware is from a beautiful set I found at a yard sale last summer for $20.
Everything with this little metal label is from Marshalls.
Most of it is borrowed from my daughter's collection.
I played around with different accessories until I found the look I was going for.
And this is the final result.
Let's go party!

How adorable. I have those same mugs!
ReplyDeleteI just love these mugs Ceekay. And the price couldn't be beat.
DeletePerfect, what a score for $10 and you did a magnificent job putting it all together:)
ReplyDeleteThanks Dawn. It is exactly what I envisioned when I was searching to the main piece.
DeleteI love it...looks great!! I have those same pieces with the metal labels from Marshalls. I'm waiting for yard sales to start around here...which should be within a couple of weeks.
ReplyDeletehugs,
Cindy
Don't you just love a yard sale Cindy! Love these pieces from Marshalls and they were so affordable (although I "borrowed' most of them from my daughter).
DeleteI love that little area! The wood on the shelf and the cart are perfect! Love it!

Thanks Jill. I love a great deal too. Just about everything I buy is "a deal." So much more rewarding than buying new.

PS: I see you are in NH - we're in FL but my Hubs was born and raised in Boston so we love getting up to NE whenever we can. :)
Hi Claire. Thank you for hosting and it is great to meet you too! My husband and I were both born in Massachusetts (along with about 90% of New Hampshire residents). I went to college in Boston and lived on Commonwealth Ave. Boston strong!
DeleteYesss - Boston strong!!
DeleteAnd I just realized I didn't write back and let you know you were featured {not to mention the most clicked on!!} last week. God bless my sweet little addled brain. ;) http://alittleclaireification.com/2013/05/02/best-of-the-weekend-fabulous-features-week-1/
Thanks so much again for joining the party! Looking forward to seeing more of your awesome ideas. xo, Claire
Very nice!!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Diana!
DeleteI love the look you created. It gives off a farm house look in your room. Love your curtains too! Just beautiful.
ReplyDeleteHi Kathy! The curtains were from a yard sale too. They bottoms anyway. I made the valances out of some leftover white burlap so they are a little short. Thanks for stopping by.
DeleteOh my god, I have total kitchen envy. I WISH I had a little coffee bar like this instead of having my coffee maker crammed next to my kettle/breadbin/spice rack/weighing scales. Also, this is a really good example of how you just can't beat a good piece of solid wood furniture. Great job, here. Love it.
ReplyDeleteAmazing set up! Love that island. I’d love it if you could link this up to our party, Give Me The Goods Monday! {1 party, 5 blogs}
